SRS BZNZ : Feeling unmotivated

SRS BZNZ feeling unmotivated ©helloharriet2014

I thought it quite fitting to highlight this subject today as I've been feeling *terribly* unmotivated recently ~ so I'm totally using this opportunity to give myself a pep talk {but also hopefully help any of you who are feeling stuck too}. It's safe to say it happens to us all, for numerous reasons, and when it does, it's super annoying in every way!
It can last a day, a week or what feels like forever, either way, the pressure that mounts up can get intense and prevent you from breaking out of the downward spiral. When I'm feeling BLAH and uninspired there are a few things I do in an attempt to turn my frown upside down ...

~ Surround yourself with positive, uplifting people.
~ Build yourself an anthology of inspiring content. I have a secret board on Pinterest where I collect awesome articles, blog posts and images so they're easily accessible when I'm feeling a bit stale. Some recent additions are this post by Sophie, and this one by Jen.
~ Avoid the 'Woe is me'. Easier said than done when you're in a destructive mindset, but whenever you notice that voice in your head saying 'Meh' you need to use some will power to combat it & change your perspective. Whilst I'm all for sharing feelings online, I wouldn't recommend venting {moaning} on Twitter. Misery attracts company, and whilst you may get the odd person telling you everything will be ok, ultimately you will just attract other miserable people ... and in the long run, push all the positive people away. {It also doesn't look very professional to any clients/customers who follow you on there}.
~ Tackle smaller tasks first. At the very least you're doing something productive & still ticking things off your to do list.
~ Get offline. We take on so much information every day, it's important to have some down time. And let's be honest, you're never going to get any work done if you're mindlessly refreshing Twitter.
~ Get outside. M O V E.
~ Try something completely different. Use a new medium, work somewhere different, change up how you do things. Sometimes the happy accidents are all that's needed to get you going again.
~ Do work for you. You don't have to share *everything* online, take the pressure off yourself and make something just for the fun of it.

Above all remember : You don't have to go fast. You just have to go.

Enjoyed this post? Don't be shy, say hello!
